About Me

I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor. I have attained a Diploma of Higher Education Person-Centred Counselling at Essex University. I also hold a couple counselling certificate. Couple counselling is for any two people; eg. husband / wife, same sex partners, mother / daughter, father / son or sibling relationships. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore adhere to their code of ethics. This is a way of regulating the profession and protects both you the client and me the counsellor from any form of malpractice. Please ask me if you would like to know more about this.

The humanistic, person-centred approach believes everyone has the potential for change. I have wide experience in this field encouraging exploration and understanding of my client’s difficulties in a non-threatening and confidential manner. I offer counselling covering a wide range of issues such as loss, stress, low self-esteem, abuse, anger, trauma, and bereavement and relationship problems.

My aim is to provide a ‘safe space’ where there is warmth, acceptance and an understanding of the issues presented. My hope is that you will feel comfortable enough to be yourself and that together we can explore any concerns you may be experiencing. Counselling cannot make decisions for you but it can help give you the emotional strength needed to discover how you feel about yourself and help to make sense of your world and where you fit into it. Although it is not possible to alter the past together we can explore difficulties that may have in the past clouded your ability to make important judgements that could affect your future.
